If you’ve been playing MLB The Show 26 for a while, there’s a good chance you picked your favorite team quickly during setup and never thought about it again. But maybe you want a different main menu theme, a new stadium background, or you simply switched loyalties for your latest Franchise or Diamond Dynasty grind. Whatever the reason, changing your favorite team in this year’s game is a little different compared to older MLB The Show titles.
In previous games, players usually handled this through the profile menu. In MLB The Show 26, the option has been moved into the User Settings section, which can make it easy to miss if you haven’t gone looking for it.
Here’s the easiest way to change your favorite team.
How to Change Your Favorite Team in MLB The Show 26
Follow these steps from the main menu:
- Open the Main Menu.
- Go to Settings using the gear icon.
- Select User Settings.
- Press Square on PlayStation or X on Xbox to open the settings preset menu.
- Scroll all the way down until you find Set Favorite Team.
- Choose the MLB team you want to use.
Once you confirm the change, the game updates several presentation elements tied to your profile. That usually includes menu themes, background visuals, and some stadium-related defaults.
It’s a small customization feature, but it helps make the game feel a bit more personal, especially if you spend a lot of time in Diamond Dynasty or Franchise mode.
Why Players Change Their Favorite Team
A lot of players switch teams for different reasons throughout the year. Some do it because their real-life team is having a great season, while others just want a cleaner menu design or a different soundtrack atmosphere connected to a club.
Some players also rotate teams depending on the mode they are focusing on. For example:
- Franchise players may want the menus to match the organization they are rebuilding.
- Diamond Dynasty users sometimes change it to fit their custom uniforms or branding.
- Road to the Show players may switch after getting traded to another organization.
The setting doesn’t lock you into anything permanently, so you can change it whenever you want.
Changing Teams in Different Game Modes
One thing that confuses many players is that changing your favorite team does not automatically change your active team in every mode. Different modes handle team selection differently.
Diamond Dynasty
In Diamond Dynasty, your favorite team setting mainly affects presentation elements. If you want to change your actual squad appearance, logo, or scoreboard branding, you’ll need to head into the Customize menu and edit your uniforms and team visuals there.
That’s where you can swap logos, jersey styles, hats, and other cosmetic details tied to your Diamond Dynasty club.
Franchise Mode
Franchise mode works differently. You cannot simply switch to another organization during an active save file.
If you want to control a different MLB team, you’ll need to:
- Start a brand-new Franchise save, or
- Use the Rebrand Team feature after progressing through a full season.
The rebrand system lets you relocate and redesign a franchise, including changing the team name and visuals.
Road to the Show
Road to the Show is centered around your player’s career, so changing teams depends on roster movement instead of menu settings.
If you want to join another organization, you can:
- Request a trade through your Player Agent
- Wait for your team to move you
- Sign elsewhere later in your career
This is the only real way to switch MLB clubs for your ballplayer in RTTS.
